Although the Super Bowl was less than spectacular this year, The NFL Players Association Super Bowl Party made the game exciting and engaging. It was great photographing the game at The Charlotte City Club with some retired NFL players.
This is by far my absolute FAVORITE event to shoot! I look forward to shooting The Foundation For Tomorrow Gala every year here in Charlotte. It's for a good cause and they are a really fun group to work with who are truly passionate about their cause.
Here's one from the Habitat Mud Volleyball fundraiser this past weekend in Charlotte, NC at Arysley Town Center. From what I could tell, the participants had an absolute blast frolicking in the mud in support of the charity. Not to mention, they represented their respective organizations quite well!
Jesus Soto-Karass vs. Juan Buenida, Reading PA.
Had I known then what I know now, I would have
been following this up and coming welterweight , Jesus Soso-Karass, from Los Mochis, Sinaloa, Mexico since I made this
image back in 2007. This fight is against Juan Manuel Buendia at the Sovereign
Center in Reading, PA. Soso-Karass won a 10 round unanimous decision. Jesus Soto-Karass out of Mexico has proven to be a very
game welterweight who always brings a busy, action packed style to the ring. I
can’t wait to see his upcoming fight against Andre Berto on July 27th.
I anticipate it being an action packed fight.
Hey everyone! I'm Dirk Weaver, a freelance photographer based out of Charlotte, NC. I am using this blog to get my thoughts, opinions, and ideas on the web.
I started making images in 2004 when I bought my first digital camera, a Nikon D70. I didn't know much about photography nor did I know very many photographers, but I was determined to make it work and pursue Photojournalism as career and flee the cubicle jungle for good. I took a few classes, read several websites and made a lot of mistakes early on, which I am truly grateful for.
My blog will be chronicle of my thoughts, ideas, perspectives and personal experiences, both good and bad, as they pertain to photography and the world around us. I hope that you find my writings both helpful as well as entertaining and that they help you avoid some of the challenges that I had early on.
A sincere Thank You goes out to the many people I have met along the way, both photographers and other wise. All of you have helped in many ways in my aspirations to make photography a career. Feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions, concerns, comments or criticisms.
